Albers counting (2017)

Animation of counting through the design space of Josef Albers’s Kombinationsschrift, using the six shapes and a space as digits in a base-7 counting system. This animation is through a 2 × 2 design space; the 3 × 5 space of the Hohe-Antiqua version of Kombinationsschrift has more than 4.7 trillion permutations.
